Sleep Disorder Medication
Medication for Sleep Disorders
There is a large variety of sleep disorders, so there is no pill exists that can be prescribed to treat all of them. This is why once you have been diagnosed with it, the doctor will also make sure that you have been prescribed the right medicine to treat your specific condition.
One of the medicines that is often being prescribed for the treatment of sleep disorders is called Provigil.
This medicine is prescribed to people that experience excessive sleepiness during the daytime and suffer from such disorders as narcolepsy, shift work sleep disorder and also obstructive sleep apnea.
Provigil Treatment
In case of sleep apnea Provigil is used in conjunction with other medicines, and it should not be used as an alternative for your CPAP machine or any other treatments that have been prescribed to you. You should be using those treatments as prescribed and for as long as prescribed.
Remember that Provigil is not able to treat the sleep disorder you have, however it can help to reduce the sleepiness caused by those conditions, so may stop your excessive sleepiness.
It is good to remember that Provigil or any other medicines will not replace the need for sleep.
There are advises about sleep habits, that your doctor can give you, so those plus medicines together can do a really good job. This medicine is a controlled substance, so make sure that it is only used by a person it has been prescribed to and kept in the safe place out of reach of children.
